The Help
I LOVED this book. I listened to it on the drive out to California. I had a hard time putting it down and couldn't wait the hear what happened next. It was so interesting to see how the white American women and the Black American women worked together. How there are circles in our society that are sometimes rediculous. Made me think about my life and how I treat others and how I could possibly stop some of those rules we make up as women. The I only do this a certain way because that is how it is done or if I do this I will be respected. And help me want to reach out to others in need. I hate how the black women were treated. It put a pit in my stomach and all I wanted to do was give them all a hug and say I am so sorry. And it made me so grateful times have changed and I hope things continue to change. Loved this book!

Well, I've loved all your other suggestions, so I guess I better stop by the library before my big old trip.
Miss you babe!
Sounds like I need to read this. Thanks for the heads up!
i just started this the other day. i am about 75 pages into it...and I have a hard time putting it down to. having itt for a drive on audio sound like a great way to do it.
ps. i'm glad you guys are liking cali.
I loved this book too. The way it was written really put the reader in a state of suspense. I couldn't put it down either.
I've been reading "The Memory Keeper's Daughter." If you haven't read it, get it from the library ASAP. It's really good.
This is one of my favorite books for sure! We read it for book club and the hostess served chocolate pie. She wouldn't divulge her secret ingredient, but my guess is she used a recipe different than the one used in the book...
I loved this book too!!! Miss you girl :)
I found this by accident and read it last summer. I love it!!
I finished it a few months ago, and now have my mom reading it too. It's so amazing how times are different and exactly the same. I loved this book. my friend just gave me this book "Little Bee" by Chris Cleave - critics say that if you liked the help, you'll love this book, so I'm excited to start it!
OMG`ish, I found your blog by accident. Your words where kind, which led me to read your entire blog! I'm so glad I did.I think we could be kindred spirits, my brother and his wife live in Winston and have for almost 20 years. My brother graduated from college there and never moved home(to Kansas). I visited and felt the people there where in a time capsule, time had stood still. I didn't attend my brothers wedding at the time, I felt he was making a huge mistake marrying out of our race. They have now been married for 15 years, and she has been patient with our family and our silly and sometime down right stupid views on racism. And we have been blessed, she is not only beautiful in spirit she open doors so that we could learn to understand why in America people live in "fear". I whole heatedly agree with you that Black Americans have openly and behind closed doors been mistreated and misunderstood. And if it is with one act of kindness a soul can be healed, we all as children of God are obligated to do are best! regardless of their nationality. You have taken a big leap in words that make me feel like you and would make wonderful friends. Thanks for sharing. May you continue to be surrounded in all that it good.
